Alqueva: Edia install 1 set of floating solar panels.
The company announced Alqueva have installed a first set of floating photovoltaic solar panels to produce energy for one of the project water reservoirs, as part of its investment in “friendly energy solutions environment”.
It is a system off the grid composed of 44 floating solar panels and an installed capacity of 11 kilowatt to produce electricity to power the Stork reservoir operations, explains the Enterprise Development and Infrastructures of Alqueva (EDIA).
Second company, the set of panels is installed in the reservoir Stork, the irrigation project Mathias, which is situated in Beja county and belongs to the secondary network of irrigation project.
In addition to the panels, EDIA also installed an energy storage system with autonomy for five days without sun, which will allow supplying the hydraulic organs and systems for monitoring and remote reservoir and the filtration station with an irrigation block 2.163 hectares.
Segundo a EDIA, this energy solution prevented the construction of a medium voltage line with a length of about two kilometers and translates into a “positive economic and financial profitability from the moment of entry into operation”.
A EDIA Frisian que “has been focusing on friendly energy solutions for the environment and ecologically compatible with sustainable development process that is desired for the region, by example through photovoltaic solutions”, as installed in Stork reservoir.
In the field of photovoltaics, the company notes that have installed solar panels on the roof of its headquarters in Beja and small photovoltaic solar plants by the Alqueva dam and the pumping stations of Piso and Amoreira.
In agricultural valence of the Alqueva, EDIA concluded last year the construction of all necessary infrastructure for watering 120 hectares provided for in the initial project and that are in operation.
The reservoir of Alqueva, located at “heart” do Alentejo, no river Guadiana, in their total storage capacity, the quota 152 meters, It is the largest artificial lake in Europe, with an area of 250 square kilometers and about 1.160 kilometers margins.
