Lúcia Pereira da Cunha was named head of the Left Block list (BE) in the candidacy for the Municipality of Castro Verde.
Lucia Pereira da Cunha, 42 year old, natural of Chaves, teacher hired at the Castro Verde Schools Group, and resident in the municipality of Aljustrel, having a degree in Biology/Geology from the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Porto and a Master in Educational Sciences / sociocultural animation by the University of Trás os Montes and Alto Douro (THE WORLD).
Left Block Leader, in 2017 was a candidate for the Municipal Assembly of Chaves and in 2019 was part of the European list. In the legislative of 2019, competed in 3rd place, in the constituency of Vila Real.
This is third known name., after the announcement of the re-candidacy of António José Brito by the PS and the candidacy of Maria de Fátima Silva by the CDU.
The National Direction of the PSD assumed that the county is one of the four where the party “have difficulties to find a candidate”, just see the 2,57% achieved by Herlander Mira in the municipal offices of 2017. The responsibility of nominating a candidate for the CDS-PP/PSD coalition rests with centrists who have not done so yet..
In 2017, António José Brito broke 41 years of communist hegemony, by defeating Francisco Duarte, who had led the municipality for nine years. The PS could 50,86% and the CDU 42,40 and Herlander Mira scarce 2,57%, the PS having obtained three terms in the Executive and the CDU the other two.
Since the first municipal elections of 1976, the Municipality of Castro Verde only knew three mayors: Fernando Sousa Caeiros (32 year old) 1976-2008, Francisco Caldeira Duarte (9) 2008-2017 and António José Rosa de Brito (4) 2017-2021.
