It begins today at the Court of Beja, the judgment of six members of the Board of Directors of the Baixo Alentejo Local Health Unit (ULSBA), accused of fraud in the vaccination process against covid-19.
To president (Conceição Margalha), the three vowels (Patricia Ataide, Iria Velez and Manuel Francisco Soares), the clinical director (Jose Anibal Soares) and the nurse director (Joaquim Brissos) the ULSBA, respond in co-authorship for a crime of abuse of power, for being included in the vaccination lists or for vaccinating several employees of the institution's administrative services.
The process was born out of three complaints, one of which, signed by a so-called group of “Citizens of Beja”, where in addition to those cases that will be judged, there were five others who, after investigation by inspectors from the Southern Directorate of the Judiciary Police, (PJ) ended up archived by the Public Ministry (MP) Beja.
According to the order for MP's accusation, in response to a request from the Alentejo Regional Health Administration (LAND), the defendants created a level 3 on a priority map, destined to inoculate with the surplus of vaccines, where “in addition to the defendants, ULSBA employees were vaccinated in a number of no less than 1.592 without functions related to the direct provision of health care”.
None of the defendants asked for the opening of the instruction of the case, and the trial that already has three sessions scheduled, takes place in the Local Criminal Court of the Beja Court, and this Monday's session is intended to hear the six defendants.
Complaints filed by the MP after PJ investigation
In the case of complaints of abusive vaccinations by the vice-president of the Chamber of Beja, married to the president of the ULSBA, and the director of the Division of Intervention in Addictive Behaviors and Addictions (DICAD), the MP “did not collect sufficient evidence to verify the element of the objective and subjective type of the crime under analysis”. In the situation of the president and two other councilors of the majority of the Executive of the Municipality of Bejense, researchers assume that “their names are not on the list of vaccinated users”.
