Beja City Council will move forward with the installation of a video surveillance system, in the most sensitive areas of the city, having already started the process with the District Command (CDBeja) da PSP.
According to information the Lidador News (LN) found, the Municipality led by socialist Paulo Arsénio, You have already completed all the forms sent by PSP, so that it can carry out the process instruction, that has to go through several phases.
Police source linked to the CDBeja that “there have already been meetings between the two parties to delve deeper into the matter. Then the locations on which surveillance will focus will be analyzed.”, and after the process is completed, it will be sent to the National Police Directorate, to ensure that it complies. Upon completion, it will be subject to an opinion from the National Data Protection Commission, but not binding.
Only after defining the arteries and how many cameras will be installed, is that it will be possible for the Municipality to come forward with the amount to invest in the video surveillance system.
The subject was addressed for the first time at the Beja Chamber Executive meeting, in 3 July, following disrespect that occurred in several arteries of the city, with particular focus on the Historic Center, and which led to the first contacts between the city hall and the police.
In Faro cameras help solve 39 crimes
