CIMB: Airport (Terminal) of Beja under evaluation by the Intermunicipal Council.


At the last meeting, the Intermunicipal Council of CIMBAL evaluated the potential of the Airport (n.d.r.:Terminal) Beja.

At the meeting, the Intermunicipal Council (CI) da CYMBAL, the main point of the Agenda concerned the Airport (Terminal Civil) Beja. According to the CI “this infrastructure, absolutely essential for the development of our territory has been the subject of debate, within the bodies of CIMBAL and which has been given special importance in the contributions made by this Community to the National Investment Plan – PNI 2030; to Alentejo 2030 and PRR – Recovery and Resilience Plan”.

In a document issued summarizing the meeting, CIMBAL, justifies that “at the present moment, of “post-pandemic” recovery of the tourist market, posed great difficulties for airlines in meeting the enormous demand”, adding that the main airports “are completely sold out, with numerous canceled flights”, concluded.

In view of this situation and with the Airport (Terminal) from Beja underused, “the mayors decided to invite the Minister of Infrastructure and Housing, Pedro Nuno Santos, to discuss the current situation and future perspectives, especially in view of the responsiveness of this equipment and what complementarities it can provide to Lisbon and Faro”, Remata.
