Municipality of Beja registers 375 active cases of covid-19, a new high since the beginning of the pandemic. In four days more 80 Novos infetados. Barrancos, which was a “Clean Covid” municipality, recorded the first two cases, last two months.
According to the daily report (Daily report 09-01-2021) the Local Health Unit of Baixo Alentejo (ULSBA), concerning 24,00 hours 8 January, the municipality of Beja registered 375 active cases, the highest value of the thirteen municipalities in the ULSBA's area of influence, followed by Mértola with 122 and Cuba with 117 cases, where the outbreak of the Misericórdia home led to an exponential increase in cases.
The Municipality of Serpa, that after the peak of the outbreak at the Misericórdia home, was lowering the numbers, but, changed again and the cases started to emerge and now registers 91 infetados. Also in the municipality of Moura the situation has become more complicated, with the numbers increasing almost daily, recording 67 infetados. Faced with the latest data, the municipality of Vidigueira continues to record an improvement now presenting 55 positive cases.
The Municipality of Barrancos, which for many months was a “Clean of Covid” municipality, now records two positive cases, the first was known in the past day 6 January (Wednesday), now having to report a second case.
Making a comparison between the 24,00 last Wednesday and Friday hours, the municipality of Beja has more 80 cases, rising from 295 to 375 infetados, and in the total of cases it entered the four-digit house, 1003 covid-19 patients. Mértola has more 2, of 120 to 122, in Cuba the new cases are more 68, having risen from 49 to 117.
On the Left Bank of the Guadiana River, the situation has seen new climbs, with Serpa to have more 12 new cases, having grown up 79 to 91, Moura who knew more 32 infetados, passing 35 to 67 infected to which Barrancos joins with two cases, after the times when it was one of the nine municipalities in Portugal considered “Limpos de Covid”.

There is also the registration of 31 patients admitted to the ward and 4 at the Intensive Care Unit of Hospital José Joaquim Fernandes, in Beja. In total deaths, There registration of 80 deaths by covid-19, 22 of which in Beja, 20 in Mértola, 18 Serpa, 5 in Vidigueira and 4 in Cuba and Moura. Alvito, Barrancos and Ferreira do Alentejo still have no fatal victims resulting from the covid-19.
