september is, By tradition, culture month in the municipality of Odemira and the Municipality once again promotes the initiative "September, cultural immersion”, with the aim of giving voice to cultural diversity and providing different cultural manifestations to the public.
musical performances, exhibitions, performances, cinema, alongside the celebration of Municipality Day and the traditional religious festival, as well as the anniversary of the Municipal Library, are the main highlights.
Activities begin on the first weekend, with the Artistic and Community Meeting of the Ancient Professions of Portugal and the World and the 5th Wind and Percussion Internship of Southwest Alentejo, sponsored by the Philharmonic Band of Odemira, with the presentation of Chamber Music classes and the Closing Concert, on days 1 and 2 September respectively.
The Seven Suns Seven Moons Festival back to Odemira with the art of Mediterranean and Portuguese-speaking world. The program includes musical and street theater shows on the days 2, 3, 4, 9 and 10 of September.
On 5 September marks the 23rd Anniversary of the José Saramago Municipal Library, which will offer the entire population a cultural program with various activities.
Between the days 7 and 9 September lends itself homage to the Patroness of Odemira Nossa Senhora da Piedade, with a set of cultural and religious activities. On 8 the Municipality Day Solemn Session will take place, in which several individualities will be distinguished, followed by the Opening of the Exhibition “Dialogues with the Collection”, Solemn Mass and Procession, pointing up that day the Municipal Holiday. By 22.00 hours, Jardim Ribeirinho de Odemira will be the stage for a concert with Pedro Abrunhosa, accompanied by the Alentejo song of the Peasants of Pias.
In the daytime night 23, by 22.00 hours, Jorge Palma takes the stage at the Fairs and Exhibitions Park, in Sao Teotonio, to present new music to the public.
Between the days 29 September and 1 October, the best of national jazz returns to the municipality of Odemira, with the TassJazz Festival, at Jardim do Mercado in SĂŁo LuĂs.
Also noteworthy are the musical shows “Às Quintas no Quintal”, on days 14, 21 and 28, as well as the inauguration of the 8th Odemira International Sculpture Symposium, on 3, by 19.00 hours, at the Municipal Library of Odemira and opening of the Collective Exhibition of Artists’ Soup, on 17, to 18.00 hours, at the Church of Misericórdia in Odemira.
These initiatives, alongside musical and dance shows, Theatre, exhibitions, workshops and films scheduled for Cineteatro Camacho Costa on the days 15, 22 and 30 of September are some of the activities that are part of the vast September program, a cultural immersion.
