For about one year military of the Criminal Investigation Center (NIC) of the Aljustrel Detachment of the GNR, led to detention last Friday, of three Portuguese individuals, aged 28 and 48 year old, for the theft of copper of communications posts.
The three suspects were arrested in the act in the municipality of Ourique, the GNR having seized 1.200 pounds of copper wire, whose value is around 5.500 euros, also confiscated a light carrier of goods, an ax, a cutting scissors, a pair of wooden stirrups to climb posts and a value higher than 41 euro cash. In the material seized to the three individuals there are also a mobile phone, Two backpacks and several cutting blades.
Of the steps carried out for almost a year, GNR military personnel have gathered evidence of the trio's performance in various parts of the district, that was surprised in the act last Friday. Present the first judicial interrogation last Monday to a judge of the Court of Beja, it was applied to measure more severe duress, for those that the three defendants will await trial in pre -trial detention at the prison establishment of Beja.
Romanian gang of condemned copper. Stole more than 400 Thousand euros of that metal
Last day 10 March, a panel of judges from the Court of Beja, condemned in legal cumulus, Sorin Dudea (na photos), a Romanian citizen, of 47 year old, pointed out as the leader of the “copper gangâ€, a 8 years in prison, for the practice of four theft crimes, three qualified and one simple.
Of the other four defendants of the group, All of Romanian nationality and in the escape to Portuguese justice, three were sentenced to effective prison sentences and the fourth, for lack of judicial notification, will be tried in an autonomous process.
Bogdan Dudea, of 41 year old, and wings dinu, of 35 year old, were both sentenced to five years in prison, for the practice of a qualified theft crime and a simple, while Angel Sabin, of 37 year old, saw the penalty of four years in prison applied to him, for a crime of qualified theft.
The gang settled in Ferreira do Alentejo and during the first semester of 2024 stole hundreds of meters copper cable, that with the sale to a receiver, generated an illicit enrichment of 403.822,47 euros.
The investigation was in charge of military personnel from the Criminal Investigation Center (NIC) GNR Aljustrel.
