One year after the assault on two operatives and the INEM ambulance being stolen and destroyed, Portel Volunteer Firefighters are still waiting for a new vehicle.
Portel Volunteer Firefighters (BVP), District of Évora, are since the day 24 of July last year without the ambulance of the National Institute of Medical Emergency (INEM), after that day an individual attacked two firefighters, the car was stolen and when he lost it left it with irreparable damage.
over a year, INEM ignored the warnings from the BVP command for the need to replace the vehicle and only today, after Commander Bruno Louro came to social media to break the silence and the questions asked by Lidador NotĂcias (LN), the situation finally met a decision.
To the INEM Communications Office, LN posed several questions, having been answered that “considering the recent entry into the service of 45 new ambulances, it is possible to provide a replacement ambulance to BVPortel, what will happen by the end of this week”, justified. According to LN found out from a source of firefighters, the car is not new, It is a used vehicle without equipment, we have to adapt the other's if there is adaptation”, concluded.
The Portel fire chief was not sweet in the comments and said that “I have kept silent, but with a huge revolt inside me”, having Bruno Louro"turned the hoses” to INEM and the Public Ministry accusing them of “the operatives suffered physical and psychological damage and until today no one else cared about, neither Public Ministry nor INEM. It's unfortunate”, concluded.
It is recalled that on 24 July 2021 an individual, of 27 year old, native of Cantanhede, district of Coimbra and resident in Cascais, who participated in an illegal party (rave) where were about 300 person, allegedly, would have fallen and would have suspected a fracture of an upper limb. The alert was given to the CODU that triggered the INEM ambulance based at the Portel Volunteer Fire Department. (BVP).
While traveling and when the crew member was assisting the patient, he became aggressive, drew a sharp object and hit the firefighters in the ribs area, which led to the driver having stopped the ambulance. Continuous act the “wounded” assaulted the driver, entered the passenger compartment and fled with the car. From Monte das Taipas, the driver went to Portel, entered the IP2 towards Vidigueira / Beja, but at the exit of Mendro/Oriola he left and entered a municipal road towards Monte de Trigo (north of Portel) ending up losing his way in a place known as Atalaia, a 15 kilometers from the place where the car was stolen.
After being arrested, the man was taken to the Hospital do Espirito Santo., Evora, where he was assisted, staying at the premises of the GNR of Évora at the orders of this institution, having been present to a Criminal Investigation Judge, getting free, with weekly presentations at the post/squad in the residence area.
