A man of 72 year old, was found lifeless this Sunday morning, in a cell in the Beja Prison (EPBeja) where he was serving a nine-year prison sentence, for a crime of aggravated murder in the attempted form.

Court of Beja was built there 70 years using prison labor. It was the first building built in Portugal administered by the Correctional Prison Labor Inspectorate.

Manuel Santos, the confessed murderer of his friend Francisco Ferro, was on Friday afternoon sentenced to 14 years in prison for the crime of simple homicide. The two children will receive 110 thousand euros in compensation.
