Beja: Spanish truck loaded with firewood overturns at the city's north roundabout.

A heavy load of goods of Spanish origin, loaded with 30 tons of eucalyptus logs fell this Saturday morning at the Air Force rotunda, the main entrance to the city of Beja. The driver was unharmed.

The accident occurred at 07,45 hours at the north roundabout of the city, at the confluence of traffic coming from or going to Spain, Lisbon and Évora, when the vehicle first turned left and then when it turned right to exit the roundabout and take the National Road (IN) 121, overturned and spilled the load off the track, getting the heavy one across the road.

The truck was coming from Aroche, in the Andalusian province of Huelva (Spain), about what 90 kilometers from Beja and was destined for the cellulose factories in Mitrena, in SetĂşbal and the driver did not suffer any injuries.

On site at Lidador Notícias (LN), the young driver said that “I didn’t understand what happened. I turned the corner and suddenly the load fell and took the truck behind it.. I’m fine, I didn’t suffer any bodily harm.”, finished. The driver already informed the company of what had happened so that another vehicle could be sent to the location so that the eucalyptus logs could be loaded and delivered to their destination..

Traffic is restricted in the area and drivers heading towards the EN121, bypass the rear of the heavy vehicle and enter the oncoming lane, in maneuver controlled by GNR soldiers who are on site. A Guarda source revealed that “it will be a complicated day until we can get a crane to remove the vehicle”, justified.
