With the motto + Agriculture + Future, The 41st Ovibeja opens doors this Wednesday, 30 April, from 10.00, with the presence of the Minister of Agriculture, José Manuel Fernandes and the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, from 12:00.
The Ovibeja, Overcrowding of the Agricultural Sector, stands out for its national and international projection and the voice it assumes in defending the interests of the region. Waiting for the presence of more than 100 thousand visitors, This edition of Ovibeja will reflect, through your main theme, on the importance of agriculture as a motor of sustainable development in the face of global challenges.
Among these are climate change, environmental preservation in view of the need to guarantee and adapt food production to a growing world population, to the scarcity of resources and, No national context, to problems such as the aging of the population, including the agricultural class, the depopulation of the rural interior zones.
One of the measures reflected in combating depopulation is the use of immigrant labor, Since ACOS has worked, through your social responsibility, the most adequate integration of these workers. Has promoted partnerships of reflection and search for solutions that best fit this problem. This will be a question present in a colloquium organized by ACOS in partnership with the social incubator of Baixo Alentejo, on 1 May, at 11:00 am.
Through the many other colloquies scheduled for every day of the fair - 30 from April to 4 May – One of the tones to be addressed is that of generational renewal in the agricultural sector, will be reflected, besides others, in the colloquium of the organization “+ Agriculture + Future", taking place in the day 2 May, in the ACOS Auditorium.
Beyond its agricultural expression, Ovibeja is a fair that meets the interests of all audiences with products and services of more than 1,000 exhibitors present and, among many other events, has cultural initiatives, Since the great concerts of the night, to the multiple sociocultural and playful activities to happen every day at different times and spaces.
The Sing Alentejo, beyond its spontaneous and daily expression, There will be a high time on the day 3, Saturday, for the presence and performance of more than two dozen coral groups in the Greater Lisbon area through the initiative “Comboio do Cante”. This is an action carried out in collaboration with Casa do Alentejo in Lisbon, with the support of the regional tourism entity of Alentejo and Ribatejo and the Beja City Council.
In an election year and time of electoral pre-campaign, Ovibeja is being contacted by the main parties for visits by candidates for legislative elections. On the opening day of the fair is already confirmed the presence of Pedro Nuno Santos, candidate for the PS the Prime Minister.
