The great festival “April em Odemira” once again fulfills the tradition of celebrating the values of Democracy and Freedom, with dozens of free activities taking place throughout the month at the county seat.
exhibitions, music, cinema, Theatre, poetry, folklore, Sing Alentejo, sport, street entertainment and solemn moments make up a vast program promoted by the Municipality of Odemira, in collaboration with local entities. The shows with Diogo Piçarra, Nena, Amor Electro and Samuel Úria are the strong points for the nights of 23, 24 and 25 April.
Diogo Piçarra takes the stage at Largo Brito Pais, at night 23 April, followed by DJ Deelight's performance with MC Landu Bi & Vj The Eye. On Sunday night, 24 April, attention goes to artist Nena. After the symbolic Raising the Flag on building of the Town Hall, with the Philharmonic Band, the Grupo Coral de Odemira and the poetry group Bocados Brutais, at midnight, followed by the Fireworks and Multimedia Festival. The night continues with the performance of the band Amor Electro. On the morning of 25 April, The Solemn Session of the Municipal Assembly of Odemira takes place. During the afternoon, the traditional Folklore Festival is promoted, in Cerro Peguinho. The show with Samuel Úria is scheduled for the night, no Cineteatro Camacho Costa.
Note for the five exhibitions held simultaneously throughout the month in the village of Odemira: Collective Exhibition of the Sopa dos Artistas Association (Misericordia Church), “From the Street to the Stores” (Local Commerce Storefronts), “Testimonials of April” (Municipal Building at Praça da República), “Freedom Passed Here” (CREATE space) and "The Lizard" (Municipal Library José Saramago). From day 21 April, the Secondary School hosts the exhibition “Municipality of Odemira in the April Revolution 1974 – 1976".
The music doesn't run out on strong April nights. Throughout the month, music invades several spaces in Odemira: showcases at the CRIAR space of Portuguese guitar with Mariana Martins (day 1), Jazz and Not Only (day 8), DJ João Machado (day 15) and Eurico S. (day 22); the Odemira Philharmonic Band takes the stage at Cineteatro Camacho Costa (day 2) and performs at Largo Miguel Bombarda (day 23); the rock festival MIRAFest returns Zona Ribeirinha (day 16); DJ ReDEEP and the rock band Suspeitos do Costume at the Municipal Market (day 22); Quintal da Música hosts the band Zeca Saiu à Rua (day 23), the crossed lines band (24) and the Jazz and Not Only Association (day 30, world jazz day). There are also musical streets by the Marchinha de Abril (days 23 and 24). Highlight for the Meeting of Choral Groups, on 30 April, no Cineteatro Camacho Costa.
not theater, note for the presentation of the Theater show “NO” (days 15 and 16, no Film Theater) and the itinerant performance by XY Company Project “LES VOYAGES” (days 23, 24 and 25), both within the scope of the Lavrar o Mira and Lagoa project. There are also sessions of Children's Tales with Bru Junça (day 2), of poetry with the Brutal Bits (day 23) and performances by Bando do Mira (day 24) and Grupo Teatro Cabanita (day 29).
In the sports context, Odemira receives the José Poeira Trophy with proofs of the Portuguese Cup in Junior Paracycling and the Portuguese Cup in Junior Cycling, on days 2 and 3 April. For the day 10 40th Vila de Odemira Athletics Circuit and 14th Health Walk are scheduled. On 22 April, during the afternoon, focus on Skate Street Sessions with Gui Durand, not skate park. The day 23 April is dedicated to a Canoeing Open day and a Street Handball Tournament, in the riverside area.
A program full of suggestions for all tastes and ages. April in Odemira is an invitation to meet again, celebration, Kang, evoking the values of freedom.
