Beja Airport: Minister sees “potential”, but it will not be an alternative to Lisbon.

In maintenance, executive aviation and in value-added projects in the agroindustry, the Minister of Infrastructure says that Beja airport “has potential”, but ensures that “will not be an alternative to Humberto Delgado”.

The Minister of Infrastructure, John Galamba, stated on Friday in Parliament that “Beja airport has potential”, not only in the maintenance area, “that is growing”, but also in executive aviation, “because of the growth of properties in Alentejo owned by people with very high income”.

The governor also said, during the hearing on the State Budget proposal for 2024, what “We have already been contacted by the American Embassy saying this”, referring to being “120 American” in this situation.

But the government official pointed out yet another potential for Beja airport, as a load, underlining “the set of projects in the agroindustry area and added value products, like aged meat”.

Emphasizing that Beja “will not be an alternative to Humberto Delgado airport”, Galamba stated that “has its own particularities” and “potential”.

Questioned, at the audition, about the proposal made by ANA – Aeroportos de Portugal to update rates next year, the minister sent it to the National Civil Aviation Authority (ANAC) a decision, claiming that “This is a matter where the Government does not get involved”.
