Agriculture: Available three million euros for investments in drought areas
Support will be available from Monday. In response to drought, there is also prepayments and changes in the rules of fallow. The fourteen municipalities in the district of Beja are covered by severe drought.
The Government will provide, from Monday, three million to support investments of farmers with holdings in municipalities in extreme or severe drought.
"The main objective of this measure is to promote the mitigation of the effects of extreme and severe drought as adverse climatic event, by supporting specific investments in farms where water scarcity compromises the effective management of livestock, in particular, animal watering and maintenance of existing permanent crops ", indicated Friday, in a statement, the Ministry of Agriculture.
To this support are eligible investments which amounts to oscillate between 1.000 euros and 40.000 euros.
According to the ministry tutored by Capoulas Santos, This support applies to the municipalities of Albufeira, Alcoutim, Castro Marim, Lighthouse, Loulé, Olhão, São Brás de Alportel, Tavira, Vila do Bispo and Vila Real de Santo António, all in extreme drought.
This assistance is also extended to counties in severe drought, as Alandroal, Alcacer do Sal, Alcochete, Aljezur, Aljustrel, Almodovar, Alvito, Arronches, Canyons, Barreiro, Beja, Benavente, Fight, Campo Maior, Castro Verde, Coruche, Cuba, Elvas, Estremoz, Évora, Ferreira do Alentejo, Grândola, Lagoa and Lagos.
In this situation are still the municipalities of Mértola, bush, Monchique, Monforte, Montemor-o-Novo, Montijo, Moura, Mourao, Odemira, Ourique, Palmela, Portel, Portimão, Redondo, Reguengos de Monsaraz, Santiago do Cacém, Seixal, Serpa, Sesimbra, Setúbal, Silves, Sines, Sales News, Viana do Alentejo, Vidigueira and Vila Viçosa.
