Of 27 February to 30 June 2023, the contest, whose registration is free, aims to encourage the production of handicrafts, tradition closely linked to water from materials originating in the territory where Águas Públicas do Alentejo operates, awarding cash prizes to winners.
Within the scope of its responsibilities for promoting the development of the territory, raising awareness of the value of water and social responsibility, the agda - Public Waters of Alentejo, S.A promotes the “Água e Alentejo” Handicraft Contest in partnership with the Regional Directorate of Culture of Alentejo, the Commission for the Coordination and Regional Development of Alentejo, Alentejo Tourism, E.R.T. and AMGAP – Association of Municipalities for Public Water Management in Alentejo.
AgdA launched the Handicraft Contest “Água e Alentejo”, where it was exposed, “the objective of this contest is to encourage the production of handicrafts, distinguishing the artisans, privileging their technical and professional skills, as well as its aesthetic capacity”.
The contest involves the creation of a handcrafted piece of artistic and/or utilitarian value., which must show cultural and social value, relating water and the territory of Alentejo.
The piece can integrate the recovery of waste, by-products and material recycling. The contest is open to any person or group of persons., for the case of shared authorship, or by any entity or set of entities.
Registration takes place between 27 February to 30 June and require delivery of the piece and form available on the AgdA website, duly completed, at the company's headquarters, in Beja.
Each of the pieces selected by the Jury of the Contest will be awarded a monetary prize divided between the 1st to the 10th place, being the 1st prize in the amount of 1 500 euros.
The announcement of the Contest Winners will be publicly announced on AgdA's communication channels, namely on the website www.agda.pt, as by electronic communication.
