Aljustrel: “Cante à Mesa” starts on Friday and lasts for three weekends.

This Friday, a partir the 13:00 hours, “Cante à Mesa” initiative begins, extending over three weekends.

The initiative will take place this year in all catering and beverage establishments in the municipality of Aljustrel, once everyone joined.

Sponsored by Aljustrel City Council, with the aim of promoting and disseminating Cante Alentejano, recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Heritage of Humanity, this event also aims to help boost the economic fabric.

It will always take place at the weekend, until the day 4 Feb., and will feature several musical moments, giving special emphasis also to gastronomy, presenting to locals and outsiders various typical dishes of the region.

For the Chamber of Aljustrel, “this is a form of informal dissemination of cante among the population and occasional visitors, diversifying the traditional places of propagation of this art, turning this cultural heritage into an economic asset at the service of local development”.

This year, in addition to the traditional lunches accompanied by cante alentejano, scheduled for different commercial establishments, singing routes will take place in the different parishes of the municipality of Aljustrel.
