Aljustrel / Castro Verde: Mayors met with Estradas de Portugal. In analyzing degradation of roads.
The presidents of the municipalities of Aljustrel and Castro Verde met with representatives of EP-Estradas de Portugal, S.A., entity with the responsibility of making the conservation and maintenance of roads that are part of the National Road Network.
The analysis consisted meeting the general state of the roads in the two municipalities, in particular the advanced state of degradation of EN2, linking Aljustrel and Castro Verde, as well as some works of art of this road, as is the case of the bridge over the Ribeira Purple, located between Ervidel and Aljustrel.
As a result of this meeting the EP took the responsibility to promptly start restoration work on the section of EN2 Ferreira do Alentejo North / Castro Verde and to terminate the award of the contract bridge over the Ribeira Purple by the end of 2015, It is the beginning of the works planned for the beginning of 2016.
The two councilors took the opportunity to demonstrate their concern about the current situation of road works in the area, notably with the resumption of interventions in IP2 and IP8, strategic routes for the development of the region, as well as the repair of several regional roads, key in an area which is very broad and lacks pathways that facilitate the mobility of people.
In conclusion, the mayor of Aljustrel called on the EP to participate in the working group that will develop the design variant of the village of Aljustrel, initiative that the municipality will lead to very soon effect.
