Aljustrel: Festicante Festival brings Mexico to “Mining village”.


The Festicante comes earlier this year Aljustrel. In the days 30 and 31 August and 1 of September, the mining village will receive one of the most unique events in the region, organized by the city of Aljustrel, in order to promote sing Alentejo.

after Cuba, Spain and the Portuguese-speaking African countries (PALOP), and as in previous years, the Festicante, under the slogan "We and the world, You will get to know the Alentejo but also a bit of the culture of Mexico, guest country of this edition.

Over the three days, musical shows with national voices, Regional and local, exhibition of paintings and products and gastronomy shows will join the Mexican music and dances, but also the cuisine of this country – recognized as World Heritage by UNESCO in 2006 - with its famed delicacies, like chilli with beef, the burritos, the nachos or tortillas.

José Cid, Celina da Piedade and Choir "Spring Flowers, Paulo Ribeiro and Peasants Sinks, C.C. & Ze Liaça, but also several choirs and traditional Alentejo music groups are the artists who will rise to the stage of Villa Park to represent Portugal and Alentejo. The Mexican side were invited Los Alebrijes groups, Mariachi Trio and Los Cavakitos to bring the Aljustrel some of this Latin American country, of ancient origin, deeply marked by the influence of pre-Columbian peoples, as the Aztecs and Mayans, and also the Spanish, that ocolonizaram and imposed their traditions.

The municipality hopes that this festival, in addition to promoting intercultural dialogue and raising awareness of the sing, the region and its products, can also help to boost local trade, in particular the hotel and restaurant, but not limited to.
