Aljustrel: Municipality submitted proposals Guide to the Mines Route.


The City Council of Aljustrel saw proposals included in the new Guide to Educational Services for the Route of Mines and Points of Interest in Mining and Geology in Portugal.

The Educational Services Guide was presented yesterday 2021-2022 (Face-to-face and non-face-to-face resources) of the Route of Mines and Points of Mining and Geological Interest in Portugal, of which the Municipality of Aljustrel is part.

This guide intends, as a matter of fact, “continue to respond to the needs of schools”, namely with regard to “the organization of field visits” and “other training experiences”, although still conditioned by the current pandemic situation.

In Aljustrel, this guide presents four different face-to-face proposals: “Workshop of Forests and Lucerne”, “Tourist for a Day – Mining Route”, "Journey to Our Origins" and "Aljustrel Has a Mine". And four more non-presential proposals, namely through watching movies, documentaries and videos. Are they: "Municipality of Aljustrel – 5000 years of history", "Mines", “The Choral Group of the Sindicato Mineiro de Aljustrel” and “Puppet Theater – A Truly Extraordinary Day in the Life of Manuel Mineiro”.

The purpose of all these activities is to make known the history and importance of the mining heritage, but also the identity of this land, showing your strengths. Proposals, these, that can cover different subjects and that are directed to different age groups and different teaching cycles..

Remember that this guide includes a different range of activities and in different parts of the country, reflecting a great diversity, allowing you to provide enriching and unique experiences.

The Route of Mines and Points of Mining and Geological Interest in Portugal is a joint initiative of the General Directorate of Energy and Geology – DGEG, EDM – Mineiro Development Company S.A. 41 entities, intending, among other objectives, “contribute to local development through initiatives to safeguard and make the most of the geological and mining heritage, as well as the promotion of scientific knowledge in the areas in which these entities intervene".
