The Territorial Command Beja, through the Castro Verde Territorial Post, on 4 August, detained three men and a woman aged between 33 and 57 year old, for theft of agricultural products, in the town of Ervidel, in Aljustrel municipality.
Following a report of theft, the Guard military developed a set of police measures that allowed them to locate and intercept a vehicle with four occupants. Following the action, it was possible to verify that they were the suspects of the theft., reason why they were arrested in flagrante delicto.
As part of the police investigation, it was also possible to recover and seize the stolen material., namely: 150 kilos of watermelon, 11 kilos of onion and a vehicle.
The recovered products were returned to their rightful owner.
The suspects were made defendants and the facts were communicated to the Judicial Court of Ourique.
The action was supported by the Criminal Investigation Unit (NIC) and Nature and Environment Protection Service (SEPNA) of the Almodôvar Territorial Detachment and the Aljustrel and Beja Territorial Posts.
Additionally, It is important to highlight that the National Republican Guard is developing the operation “Safe Field 2024”, which runs until 16 February 2025, which aims to intensify patrolling, inspection and awareness raising on agricultural and forestry farms, with the aim of preventing crime in general and theft in particular, as well as possible situations of human trafficking.
