After the statement from the president of the Almodovar city council to “withdraw political confidence” from the councilor and vice-president, Lucinda George, responds that his candidacy for the PS Council “was the reason for the removal of responsibilities”.
The explanation for what happened to Lucinda Jorge is related to the fact that the militant has advanced with a candidacy for the Political Commission of the Municipality of the Socialist Party of Almodôvar, according to her own “after the current (ed: the gift) president of the same, Antonio Boot, to mention at a meeting of the Political Commission his unavailability to re-candidate”, mentioned in a statement.
“At the meeting of the Political Commission of the Municipality of the PS of Almodôvar last 1 September 2022, the president of the same, Antonio Boot, informed the activist Lucinda Jorge that, if she did not give up her candidacy, she would be withdrawn from the responsibilities assigned as Councilor of the Almodôvar City Council, as well as the vice-presidency of the same”, says.
The notice ends with the guarantee, by Lucinda George, that will continue “to be present at the council meetings and the Municipal Assembly, as Councilor of the Socialist Party, defending the causes of the Municipality of Almodôvar and its citizens”:
On the website of the Municipality of Almodôvar, Lucinda Jorge continues to appear in the Executive as vice-president in charge of Civil Protection, Social action, Public Health and Food Safety, Parish Support, Economic and Social Development, Water supply, Sanitation and Public Hygiene, Spatial Planning and Territorial Management Instruments, Registration Information, Forest Management and Protected Areas and Animal Protection and Health.
The Almodôvar City Council also did not disclose whether the responsibilities that belonged to Lucinda Jorge will be redistributed by the rest of the Executive and whether councilor João Lopes Pereira will become vice-president.. This departure does not change the power dynamics in the county, where the PS continues to hold the majority.
