The Minister of Agriculture and Food, Maria do Céu Antunes, and the Secretary of State for Agriculture, Gonçalo Rodrigues, visit the Alqueva Observation and Command Post.
This is a multifunctional building, nearing completion, gathering, in the same space, the dam observation and command post, a reception area for visitors, as well as presentation and interpretation of the Alqueva project – Alqueva Interpretation Center (CIAL).
This project represents a total investment of 3 million, of which 1 million euros corresponds to PDR2020 financing.
On this occasion, The Signing Ceremony of the construction contract for the hydraulic circuit of Monte da Rocha and Messejana Irrigation Block will also be held.
This work will allow the reinforcement of the Monte da Rocha reservoir for irrigation and public supply, as well as the creation of a new irrigation block (Messejana) with 2330 hectares, in the municipalities of Aljustrel and Ourique.
Marcelo Guerreiro, Mayor of Ourique, explained that “this is an investment of extraordinary importance for Ourique that will allow water to be brought from Alqueva to Monte da Rocha and promote economic development through the irrigation perimeter”, finished.
