Alqueva: Cross Border Association prepares candidacy for Economic Enhancement Program Endogenous Resources.


The ATLA - Cross Border Association Lake Alqueva gathered in the auditorium of Monsaraz Reguengos Municipal Library for the presentation of the Economic Enhancement Program Endogenous Resources (CHECKS).

The meeting also aimed at defining a collective efficiency strategy for the implementation of projects to develop the endogenous resource Alqueva in all its valences. The working meeting was attended by the associated municipalities in the ATLA, Development Company and Infrastructures of Alqueva (EDIA), Commission of Coordination and Regional Development of Alentejo (CCDR-A), Alentejo Tourism ERT, higher education institutions, associations and economic operators in the region.

The territory of intervention PROVERE includes the Portuguese municipalities of ATLA around Lake Alqueva (Alandroal, Canyons, Moura, Mourão Portel, Serpa, Reguengos de Monsaraz, Vidigueira and Viana do Alentejo) and other municipalities in the Alqueva space influenced by endogenous resource Alqueva. At the meeting, CCDR-A presented the PROVERE while economic recovery strategy territorial base, directed specifically to low-density areas, with the aim of promoting the competitiveness of these areas through the promotion of innovative activities and based on the valuation of endogenous resources of the territory and tends inimitable.

During the session also addressed the goals and action types provided for in the investment priority, supporting the preparation and monitoring of economic recovery strategies, marketing strategies and territorial animation, the creation of local networks for the promotion of knowledge and innovation based on a logical recreation of local products, design of new products, design and innovative marketing to local products. The CCDR-A also highlighted the specifics of the notice of PROVERE with regard to the identification of anchor projects and complementary projects.

José Calixto, President of ATLA, It states that "the strategic objectives of the association are aimed at developing an application to PROVERE to value the ranks of tourism and agriculture, innovation, processing and marketing, the qualification of the territory, capacity building and training of the territory agents, the valuation of land resources and local base, the animation and promotion, communication and territorial marketing ". Jose Calixto also says that "the assumption of a place-based strategy, the creation of a consortium with different public and private actors and the guarantee of a management and coordination, were some of the aspects considered by all as an added value for the huge leverage of the territory ".

The ATLA - Transboundary Lake Alqueva Association was established in 2005 and it consists of the municipalities of Alandroal, Moura, Mourao, Portel, Reguengos de Monsaraz, Canyons, Viana do Alentejo, Vidigueira and Serpa, hair and municipalities in Alconchel, Cheles, Olivenza and Villanueva del Fresno.
