Alqueva: Edia make public presentation of new irrigation blocks.
The Enterprise Development and Infrastructures of Alqueva (EDIA) presented on Friday, irrigation blocks Caliços / Axes and Sinks and Moura Gravitational. Are more 10 928 hectares of Alqueva.
Will take place at the Multipurpose Hall of Pias, Serpa county, the public presentation of Hydroagriculture of Caliços / Axes, Sinks and Moura Gravitational, integrated into the irrigation subsystem Ardila, Friday, day 24 June, by 11 hours.
The presentation is open to all interested, namely farmers and owners, and to clarify the beneficiaries of the processes linked to the operation of these new perimeters of irrigation.
The Caliços / Axes irrigation blocks benefit an area with 4 664 hectares, distributed 4 sub blocks, located south of the city of Moura and northeast of the village of Pias.
The perimeter of Pias Irrigation, It covers an area with 4 600 hectares and is divided into 5 sub blocks while Moura Gravitational Irrigation Perimeter dominates an area with about 1 664 hectares.
These new irrigation perimeters, benefiting over 800 owners 1 636 farm buildings, come into operation in the current campaign and, similarly to the the perimeters in operation at the time of entry into service, the volumes of water used will not be charged as this "year zero" is considered the year of testing.
In total will be more 10 928 ha consisting of 123 km of irrigation secondary networks, 1 lift station, 232 hydrants equipped with 463 mouths watering, and 58 km of road network.
Alqueva irrigation will this campaign 120 hectares of area served by the respective infrastructure, thus completing the installation of the first phase of the Global System of Alqueva, while preparing the projects for more installation 47 hectares, corresponding to the expansion area to run until 2020.
