EDIA revealed that the Alqueva Project ends the year 2022 with 130 thousand hectares infrastructured for irrigation, in other words, more 10 thousand hectares than last year.
De acordo com a Empresa de Desenvolvimento de Infraestruturas de Alqueva (EDIA) com o aumento da área equipada para regadio, aumentou também o número de barragens e reservatórios no sistema, que passa para 71, bem como a extensão de canais e condutas nas redes primária e secundária que soma agora um total de 2078 km. Alqueva conta ainda com 48 estações elevatórias no seu sistema.
Alqueva a caminho do quinto enchimento

Recorde-se que Alqueva tem atualmente uma área de regadio direta de 130 mil hectares e garante ainda água aos regadios confinantes, bem como aos sistemas de abastecimento público e industrial.
A albufeira tem uma área de 250 kilometers,1160 kilometers margins, sendo que o armazenamento máximo da barragem de Alqueva é de 4150 hm3, to the maximum quota of 152 m.
