Construction work on the Organic Valorization Center began yesterday (CVO) dedicated to the treatment of biowaste selectively collected.
The Organic Valorization Center, to be built in the Intermunicipal Landfill of Vila Ruiva/Cuba, has a total investment amounting to 8,5 million.
This project is part of a vast set of investments that have been developed by AMCAL and its associated municipalities, allowing this system to be equipped with a biowaste treatment solution with an annual processing capacity of 10 thousand tons, which will result in approx. 2 500 tons of high quality compost available for different uses in the region.
The new Organic Valorization Center is assumed as a structuring project for AMCAL, aligned with the policies that have been developed and implemented in the area of intervention of 5 municipalities associated, providing populations with the best technical solutions that allow, on the one hand, to increase preparation for reuse, recycling and the quality of recyclables valued and, for another, the significant reduction in the deposition of urban waste in landfills. Is-is, because, of a joint effort aimed at improving the environmental sustainability and quality of life in this region, through the development of a proximity solution.
This unit will receive the biowaste selectively collected in the municipalities of Alvito, Cuba, Portal, Viana do Alentejo and Vidigueira, which is mandatory until 31.12.2023.
