ANSR launched the Road Safety Campaign “Give priority to life”, with the aim of appealing to all who circulate on the roads and streets to do so safely, calling on them to give priority to life and to protect not only their lives, but also that of your family and that of others.
The criterion for identifying the places with the highest concentration of fatal accidents was based on stretches of road with kilometric demarcation (Highways, Main Itineraries, Complementary Itineraries and National Roads) where there were at least two fatal accidents with a distance of less than two kilometers between them, in the period between January 2018 and April 2023.
As a result, we identified 175 sites, which have a cumulative length of about 325 kilometers, representing 1,5% of the national road network where 468 fatalities, about a third (31%) of the total number of fatalities recorded in the period referred to (1.527), on the roads covered by the criterion.
The IC1 in the districts of Beja and Setúbal recorded 6 fatal accident concentration sites, where in 25 kilometers died 20 people.
A EN18, that crosses the districts of Castelo Branco, Portalegre, Evora and Beja, also registered 6 locations of concentration of fatal accidents in 11 kilometers, with 16 fatalities.

this campaign, which takes place during the month of August, period when trips are more frequent and longer, marks the places with the highest concentration of fatal accidents, so that in these places attention and care in driving are redoubled.
