Assembly of the Republic: Greens want local food production in public canteens.


“The Greens”, lead today `* discussion in Parliament, the Green Bill "Preference for local food production in public canteens".

GREEN-simbolo_800x800With this legislative initiative, the ENP proposes that, not least, 60% of food used for confection of meals in public canteens must be of domestic origin.

Through this rule - which applies to canteens and cafeterias of Offices of Public Administration, central, regional e local, as well as public institutions which are of the nature of personalized services or of public funds – State or contribute, via their public procurement, to ensure the flow of national food production

The proposal of the Greens – discussed this Friday, day 11 of December, Plenary Assembly of the Republic – will, second this match, several advantages to the country, both economic, social, environmental, as cultural and food security, such as combating the agri-food deficit, the revitalization of the national economy, the revival of the fishing sector, combat the depopulation and desertification of the countryside, the preservation of agricultural biodiversity and the fight against climate change.
