There 108 incumbent presidents in municipalities in Portugal who are prevented from advancing due to term limits. Two are in the Beja district, Almodôvar and Cuba.
In the fourteen municipalities of the Beja district, the socialist António Bota, mayor of Almodôvar and the communist, João Portuguese mayor of Cuba, elected for the first time in reach the limit of 12 years in office and cannot run again in those municipalities.
Paul Arsenio (Beja/PS), António José Brito (Castro Verde/PS), Luis Pita Plum (Ferreira do Alentejo/PS), Ãlvaro Azedo (Moura/PS), Marcelo Guerreiro (Ourique/PS) and Rui Raposo (Vidigueira/CDU), complete their second term at the head of their respective municipalities.
In turn, Carlos Teles (Aljustrel/PS), Jose Manuel Efigénio (Alvito/PS), Leonel Rodrigues (Barrancos/CDU), Mario Thomas (Mértola/PS), Helder Warrior (Odemira/PS) and José Efigénio Palma (Serpa/CDU), fulfill their first term.
The oldest active mayor is LuÃs Pita Ameixa, that will fulfill 20 years as mayor in Ferreira do Alentejo, having been linked to the municipality during 12 year old, between 1993 and 2005, and with 8 years into the new term, from 2017.
Marcelo Guerreiro, who until the beginning of this term was Portugal's youngest mayor, will comply 10 years ahead of the destinies of the Municipality of Ourique. He started by replacing Pedro do Carmo, when he assumed the position of deputy in the Assembly of the Republic between 2015 and 2017, having been elected in that year's election, starting to serve his second term in office.

Us 49 years of Local Power, Never has a woman been elected mayor in the Beja district, while Serpa is the only Municipality that is always led by the same political force, a CDU. João Paulo Launches Trinity, between 2005-2009, in the Municipality of Alvito, was the only Independent to lead a local authority.
The mayor with the most years of leadership was the communist João Rocha, with 37 years of mandate, 33 in Serpa and 4 in Beja, on the other hand, António Afonso Guerreiro is so far the mayor with the shortest term in office, with only 10 months, between February and October 2005, when he replaced José Raul dos Santos in the Municipality of Ourique.
Alvito is the Municipality that has met the most Mayors to date, with 10 Mayors, while at the opposite pole is Castro Verde, who only knew three guys in the chair of Power.
