Born in Vila Nova de Gaia, Gonçalo Monteiro has lived in Beja since 2001, has been affiliated with BE for over a decade., having in the Municipalities of 2017 Integrated the Block lists to the Union of Parishes of Pontinha and Famões, county of Maynooth.
The candidacy for the Chamber of Beja has as main objective to combat the social inequalities that live in the county, in particular in the area of ​​housing.
Gonçalo Monteiro is the fourth candidate for the presidency of the Municipality of Beja, after the current president's candidacies are known., Paul Arsenio (PS), of councilor VÃtor Picado (CDU) and professor Nuno Palma Ferro (coalition PSD/CDS-PP/PPM/Alliance/Liberal Initiative).
In 2017, Paulo Arsenio succeeded 46,25% of the votes defeating and dethroning João Rocha (CDU), who achieved 37,61%, in what was the first electoral defeat of the then mayor of Beja and former leader of the serpent council.
