The black smoke that comes out of a vehicle's exhaust is associated with a mixture of excess fuel and air., but it wasn't that signal that stopped the Can-Am T3 of the Filipe Cameirinha/Jeremy Dubois duo, during the second stage of the Rally Raid Portugal and which earned him recognition from the Portuguese Automobile and Karting Federation (FPAK).
The driver from Beja was second in the first stage, behind his teammate and former rally driver Bernardo Sousa, who had won the stage, but the next day was not lucky for the winner of the reality show Big Brother Celebrities 2022 II.
In the middle of the second qualifying round, the Can-AM T3 driven by the Madeiran pilot, navigated by Hugo Magalhães, it started to burn and it was worth the arrival of Filipe and Jeremy who helped their companions put out the fire.
“We stopped and the four of us extinguished the fire. We could have taken off and left Bernardo and Hugo by the burning car and won the stage. The race was neutralized and we towed Bernardo’s vehicle to Parque Fechado and he came first”, revealed to JN the Alentejo pilot.
This selfless gesture, led to the FPAK Management awarding the “White Card/Fair Play” to the pilot duo Filipe Cameirinha/Jeremy Dubois “for the fair play demonstrated in immediately helping an injured pilot during the race, even if it cost them first place.”, revealed the entity that oversees motorsport in Portugal.
O Rally Raid Portugal, which took place in the Grândola region, between 2 and 7 April counted for the National Off-Road Championship, but this did not mean that the “grandson of Senhor Cameirinha”, how many people treat him in Beja, I wanted to win at all costs.
“It is very rare and always a source of pride to receive the maximum fair play award. I had other similar situations before., but never in the dispute for first place and in the race that was. We could have helped and given the slide, but it’s not part of my sporting culture”, justified Filipe Cameirinha.
The agricultural entrepreneur in the wine and olive oil sectors, que no dia 10 June 2015, was honored by the then President of the Republic, Aníbal Cavaco Silva, with the award of Business Order of Merit, Agricultural Merit Class, and his co-pilot, will receive the FPAK distinction, the next day 17 May, in Lagos, along the Baja do Algarve.
