O REAL THAW (TRUE THaw) 2022 is taking place in Portuguese airspace, until next day 07 July 2022, ten days after the end of the ETAP-T exercise 2022.
In full ceremonies of the 70th anniversary of the Portuguese Air Force (FAP), to Air Base (BA) 11 gets REAL THAW 2022. The exercise symbol is now available and has the acronym: “DARE TO BE AWARE” (Dare-to-know).
O REAL THAW 2022 “is a Portuguese training exercise programmed and conducted by the Portuguese Air Force, planned to be a Great Forces Employment exercise (LFE) in a multi-domain framework”, justifying that its focus “is designed to provide participating units with a wide range of tactical missions”., day and night, with the aim of gathering knowledge, increase integration, face innovation and strengthen the limits of participants”
O REAL THAW 2022 will take place at the Air Base 11, Beja, where will most of the assets be. The missions will be carried out at the Air Base 11, simulating an Deployable Operating Base, towards designated airspace. Air operations will be developed mainly in the Southwest of Portugal.
The purpose of REAL THAW 2022 “is to provide adequate tactical training to all participating units that will work in a highly collaborative manner, sharing tactical knowledge, in a multidomain environment to reach the full potential of the participating units”, justify.
O REAL THAW 2022 takes place on a date when the Air Force celebrates its 70th anniversary, taking place in Beja a Static Exhibition of Aircraft, next to the House of Culture, where among others will be an F-19, a military parade, on Avenida Vasco da Gama, and ends on the day 3 July, with an Air Festival, with the FAP justifying that it is “preparing the biggest Air Festival ever, being present several squadrons of flights from different NATO countries”.
