Three individuals, Portuguese nationality, aged between 25 and 32 year old, will be tried for assaults on five Asian citizens, one pakistani and four indians, occurred in July 2020 in the village of Baleizão, county Beja.
The defendants are, each one of them, accused of five crimes of offense to qualified physical integrity, one of which is still accused of an aggravated threat crime, perpetrated against the five Asian citizens, aged between 20 and 41 year old, agricultural workers residing in the Alentejo village.
According to the prosecutor's order (MP) Beja, that the News had access Lidador, “It all started in the late afternoon of 9 July 2020, when a Pakistani citizen was with other Asian friends in Álvaro Cunhal Park, in the village of Baleizão and one of the defendants passed by in the company of a woman. Suspecting that one of the victims photographed the woman, the defendant went to the alleged author of the photos and threatened him”.
The next day, cerca the 20,00 hours, the three defendants and other individuals, some of which are hooded, armed with sticks, bats, chains and a knife, assaulted the alleged author of the photos, who was also stabbed, and other Asians who met him in the park.
after the attacks, the suspects fled the scene, before the GNR soldiers who had been alerted, reach the victims. At the time, the attacks caused injuries to the five Asian workers., one of them in serious condition, who stayed for a few days at the Beja Hospital emergency department.
