Canyons: Regional Day at Herdade da Coitadinha.
Life project-Mounted Adapt discussed today in the Regional Day at Herdade da Coitadinha, under ExpoBarrancos.
EDIA and Defense Association Heritage of Mértola, ADPM, in partnership with the Municipality of Barrancos, organize the Regional Day Seminar Herdade da Coitadinha, acquired by edia in 1997, as a compensatory measure of habitats submerged by the Alqueva dam, where are presented many issues affecting this issue.
The Mounted, main cultural occupation of the interior of our country, and mainstay of the economy of rural areas of the interior Alentejo, It is declining due to various factors. The project Life-Mounted Adapt, coordinated by ADPM, which is a partner EDIA, It aims to mitigate the consequences of climate change, improving their sustainability from an economic point of view, social and environmental in the intervention areas.
This initiative supported by the European Commission, gathers 17 partners in order to implement measures 11 pilot properties in Portugal and Spain, including the Estate of Coitadinha, in Barrancos.
Based on local conditions will develop a plan ILU (integrated land use) running and monitoring these properties.
The seminar will take place today at 15h, integrated into the programming of ExpoBarrancos.
