Canyons: Inauguration of Monument Square and evoking events 1936
The ravines of people do not forget those who made the history of Vila.
The raiana City Council opens today, to 16.00 hours,a “Monument dedicated to the 1936 events″ and Largo Lieutenant António Augusto Seixas”, a ceremony presided by the Mayor of Barrancos, Antonio Tereno.
After the reception of guests and population of Barrancos, Band “End of Century”, interprets the songs of Barrancos, Spain and Portugal, which is followed by the unveiling of the plaque and monument toponÃmica.
The event is marked by the interventions of Don Juan Torres, Mayor of Oliva de la Frontera, Lieutenant-Colonel Joaquim Figueireedo, Beja Territorial Commander of the GNR, António Augusto Seixas, representative of Seixas Family and the President of the City Council barranquense, Antonio Tereno.
The film “We refugee Canyons”, portrays the events of 1936, that General Franco, sent and killed in Spain and persecuted all opponents and was, Lieutenant of the Fiscal Guard, António Seixas who protected and hid the Spanish Republican exiles in land Barrancos. And wrote “our brothers:
