The Municipal Outdoor Swimming Pool hosts for the first time a Water Polo Tournament organized by the Portuguese Swimming Federation.
The 1st Beja International Water Polo Tournament takes place this weekend, days 14 and 15 of September, with the participation of the Absolute Women's National Team (SNAF), the Women's Under-19 National Team (SNS19F) and Real Canoe N.C.. (RCNC) from Madrid, team that competes in the top tier of the Spanish championship.
Before the tournament, the teams gathered on Thursday afternoon with the arrival of the national teams who trained in the late afternoon. Yesterday morning the national teams trained, and in the afternoon, with the arrival of the Spanish team, joint training was held between the three teams.
The Tournament starts this Saturday morning with a game between SNAF x SNS19F, and in the afternoon, the games between SNS19F x RCNC and between SNAF x RCNC. Tomorrow at 10 am the game between the second and third placed teams in the first phase will take place, which will determine the second finalist for the tournament final at 11:30 am. At 12:45 pm prize distribution followed by lunch.
According to António Machado from the Portuguese Swimming Federation: «This Beja International Tournament will be the reunion of the selection in a competitive stage with a new preparation cycle with new qualification for the European Championship. The Sub selection 19 will participate in the international tournament Barcelona, on the weekend 20 a 22 of September. The absolute team is experiencing a moment of renewal and the end of the cycle, collaborating with the under 19s.â€
The tournament will consist of three teams, Women's Absolute National Team (SNAF), Women's Under-19 National Team (SNS19F) and Real Canoe N.C.. (RCNC) de Madrid team that competes in the top tier of the Spanish championship.
