Beja AirShow: Report on plane crash remains to be concluded.

Three months after the accident during the Beja AirShow air festival 2024 (BAS24) caused the death of a Spanish pilot, The final report has not yet been finalized.

According to the preliminary report from the Aircraft Accident Prevention and Investigation Office and Railway Accidents (GPIAAF) “it was agreed between both entities (GPIAFF/FAP) as it is more appropriate for the investigation to be led by the Air Force Central Accident Investigation Commission (CIAFA)".

Given this premise, we put several questions to the Public Relations of the Portuguese Air Force (RP/FAP) about the progress of the investigation, namely whether it had already been closed and whether the Public Prosecutor's Office (MP) de Beja has not yet allowed the removal of the wreckage of the plane from the place where it crashed.

The Air Force clarified that “the investigation process into the accident that occurred during the Beja AirShow festival 2024 is still ongoing, currently pending information to be deduced by entities external to the Investigative Committeeâ€.

The RP/FAP added that the investigation is still “running within the established deadlineâ€, taking into account that national legislation, aligned with European legislation, “determines that an investigation within the scope of preventing aircraft accidents must be completed within one year after the occurrenceâ€, justified.

With regard to the removal of the aircraft that still remains on land attached to the Beja Civil Terminal (TCB), where it fell last day 2 June, the FAP justifies that “the Investigation Committee has already released the aircraft in question, Therefore, any question in this regard must be referred to the Public Prosecutor’s Officeâ€.

Last day 3 July, the Lidador News (LN) realized that the Warbird Yak52s, that killed Spanish pilot Manuel Rey Cordeiro, of 62 year old, continue non local da stay, The Beja Public Prosecutor's Office and the Attorney General's Office were asked about the reasons why the aircraft remained in place a month later, but no explanations were given.

LN found that the wreckage of the aircraft continues to be monitored by the PSP, the place having been visited a few weeks ago by the plane's owner and the pilot's widow.
