Yesterday's news that an old building had been acquired to replace the construction of the new Palace of Justice in Beja, was the "lie" of the 1 April.
The justification that the Justice turned to another solution and acquired the “yellow building” located next to the Court of the District of Beja, is the only true "lie", whose remaining text is not a lie and in the text there are many truths that may be confirmed in the future.
Delays in awarding the third tender are real. In August of last year, the Mayor of Beja revealed that from 11 proposals submitted “three are within the tender limit value”, which was 5.760.000 euros. Paulo Arsénio confirmed to Lidador Notícias (LN) that about the contest there is no news: "nothing. All stopped. We have known for days that there is no decision yet.”.
Land reversal can and should be a reality. It is recalled that in 12 March 2021, the LN), the mayor of Beja, remembered and left an ultimatum: “the right of the Ministry of Justice (MJ) to the land ceded by the municipality ends in 30/10/2022 if the works don't start by then. Thereafter, wanting, the Municipality may revert to itself the possession of the land ceded for that specific purpose.”
With Paulo Arsénio as Mayor of Beja, the municipality has already reversed land donated to the São Barnabé Foundation, next to the Health Center building, in Beja, and which was destined for a Continuing Care Unit, that never came to pass.
More recently, the City Council asked for the resolution of the Memorandum of Understanding, com a Macfarlan Smith, in which the Scottish company acquired a plot of land from the Municipality. 18.500 m2, located next to Beja Aerodrome, which aimed to install an agro-industrial unit in the pharmaceutical sector, but who sold to third parties, to Ambigroup, without informing the Chamber.
The construction of the new Palace of Justice in Beja, is increasingly “a mirage”, taking into account what the Bejense mayor said in August 2021: “the contract with the winning consortium/company still needs to be signed, refer the same to the Court of Auditors, wait for the visa in the contract and finally consign the work”.
In the future, the “lie” of the 1 April, can be summarized as the alleged acquisition of the “yellow building”, because the rest has everything to be true, including the postponement of the construction of the new Palace of Justice.
