Beja: BA 11 gets REAL THAW 2019 between 22 September and 4 October.
The Portuguese Air Force held the multinational exercise Real Thaw 2019 (RT19), between days 22 September and 04 October, from the Air Base # 11, in Beja, whose motto “Dare to be aware”.
The RT19 military junta Air Force, Navy and Portuguese army and forces of Denmark, Spain, France, Holland, United States and NATO, in total 600 participants and 21 Aircraft.
Portugal: F-16M, C-130H, C-295M, P-3C CUP+, EPSILON, ALOUETTE III, EH-101 Merlin and AW119MKII Koala, Spain: C-212, France: C-160 e C-130, U.S: C-130J e NATO: E-3A AWACS.
On your site, the Portuguese Air Force justifies the RT19 It aims to evaluate and certify the operational capability of the Air Force, providing training multinational group.
They are also goals of this exercise to prepare the military for international missions in operational scenarios and provide interoperability between countries and respective means.
This way, the RT19 unfolds based on the training, qualification and readying the air units, and respective crews, in order to equip them with the valences necessary to conduct air operations.
During the RT19 the following missions will be performed:
› Defense airspace;
› Protection to land helicopters and vehicles to transport humanitarian mission;
› close air support to ground forces and special operations;
› Extraction of military personnel or civilians, with and without air threat;
› Cargo Release and Parachute;
› Search and Rescue in combat zones;
› aeromedical evacuations;
› CIMIC operations ( civil - military cooperation);
› conventional attack guided weapons and high precision to fixed and mobile targets;
› conventional attack on maritime forces.
