Beja: Base Aérea 11, receives between now and 17 March, REAL THAW exercise 2017.
The Portuguese Air Force will hold, between today, 5 March and the next day 17 March, annual exercise REAL THAW 2017 (RT17). Again the Air Base 11 (BA11), in Beja, It will be the nerve center of operations for the year.
The RT17 is coordinated from the BA11, where it parked most aerial and terrestrial means participants. Facilities at Seia Municipal Aerodrome are also integrated in the exercise as "Tactical Air Base", serving as a support unit to operations in the central region and the north
This year involves, beyond the Air Force (F-16M, Alpha-Jet, C-130H, C-295M, P3-C CUP+, Alouette III e EH-101 Merlin), the Navy and the Army of Portugal, the participation of military forces of Belgium (C-130), Denmark, US gives America (C-130 e MV-22 Osprey), Spain (F-18 Hornet e C-212), France (E-3A AWACS), Holland (C-130) and still air of NATO (E-3A AWACS).
The RT17 aims, evaluate and certify the operating capaci9dade Air Force, providing training multinational group.
They are also goals of this exercise to prepare the military for international missions in operational scenarios and provide interoperability between countries and respective means.
The R717 takes place based on the workout, qualification and readying the air units and respective crews, in order to equip them with the valences necessary to conduct air operations.
In order to be the goals achieved, the participating forces will conduct missions in day and night time. According to the Air Force, from initial planning was devoted special care to the impact of noise and disruption caused by it to the people in air operations.
During or RT17 done-se um Spotters Day, in Beja, on 8 March, with participation by compulsory.
