The Book Directorate-General, Archives and Libraries (DGLAB), as a coordinating body of the National Network of Public Libraries, invited the Beja José Saramago Municipal Library to join the European project: “Digital competence and information literacy for librarians – NEDlib” (Digital skills and information literacy for librarians), Funded by the Erasmus Community Program +.
In the context of Portuguese participation in this project DGLAB selected 5 libraries (from among 246 counties), Beja, Almada, Loulé, Mangualde and Vila Verde, involving a total of 10 librarians. The project that will end 2026, will have face -to -face training sessions to take place at the end of January 2025 in Salononica, in Greece, and at the end of February in Sofia, in Bulgaria.
The objective of the project is to empower librarians at the level of digital skills and information literacy, so that they can train other colleagues from their geographical areas as well as the communities of libraries themselves.
At the end of this training phase will be developed, in the libraries that participated, Promotion actions of digital and informational literacy.
