It was handed over this Monday to the management and command of the Beja Volunteer Firefighters (BVBeja) a new Command vehicle.
The acquisition was the result of the monetary surplus from the fundraising campaign carried out by the group of citizens “Amigos dos B.V.Beja” for the repair of the Escada Vehicle 30 (VE30), that had broken.
Acquisition of the command vehicle (VCOT) traction 4×4 and subsequent adaptation to the role of fire command vehicle cost 29.000 euros.
The fundraising campaign carried out by the group “Amigos dos B.V.Beja” began in July 2022 when it became known that the firefighters did not have the 60.000 euros needed to repair the VE30, which has been inoperative since the beginning of that year.
The citizens' movement led to the National Emergency and Civil Protection Authority (ANEPC) contribute to 30.000 euros and Beja City Council with 10.000 euros, with the remaining amount being withdrawn from the joint account created for the purpose, which reached the 44.000 euros.
The group, from day one, stated that “everything will be done to raise money to acquire a new command vehicle for the firefighters” and the remaining 29.000 euros led to the acquisition of the vehicle that from today onwards is at the services of BVBeja.
In a ceremony that was attended by the management and command of the firefighters and “Amigos dos B.V.Beja”, surrounds ax, the president of the board justified that “it is the acquisition of a vehicle that solves a pressing problem on the ground and on the road, without spending a lot of money”, finished.
In turn, Pedro Barahoana, BVBeja commander, maintained that “in operational terms we are better equipped and it also solves the long journeys of the command. Bring a command kit to theaters of operations, In addition to being small, it is a refrigerated chest that can be used in different situations” he concluded.
Representing the group “Amigos dos B.V.Beja, Luis Palma, highlighted the great response from companies, citizens and institutions gave in raising funds, showing satisfaction: “The group’s effort was worth it, aimed at repairing the staircase, but with the help of many people, With the surplus, this vehicle was purchased. We just have to be happy and grateful with the response from companies, citizens and institutions”, concluded.
The new vehicle will replace a vehicle that had been in service with the corporation since 1999.
