Beja: British resident at a campsite in the Algarve, tried for drug trafficking.


A British citizen, native of Portsmouth, of 35 year old, resident at Armação de Pêra Campsite, Silves, It will be prosecuted in the Court of Beja, Hair crime of drug trafficking.

The individual had been under investigation by the Judiciary Police for a few months. (PJ), having been caught on the afternoon of 23 June 2022, with 41 plastic bags containing 410,4 grams of cannabis, enough for 787 individual doses.

Beyond cannabis, the citizen of the United Kingdom, had synthetic drugs in his possession, namely 332,381 grams of ALFA-PHP and 3,070 grams of Mephedrone, Besides 110 packaging intended for the packaging and individualization of narcotic products, a vacuum sealing machine and two packaging rolls for said machine.

The suspect was driving a Spanish-registered vehicle, having taken the A2 route, Algarve-Lisboa, exiting at the Aljustrel tollbooth and heading towards Santigo da Cacém, having been approached by PJ four inspectors after leaving the highway.

At the time of his arrest, he underwent his first judicial interrogation at the Odemira Court, having been released. In the Court of Beja the defendant will be tried before a Panel of Judges, risking an effective prison sentence of more than five years.
