In Portugal, the best known case is the air crossing of the South Atlantic, in 1922, by Gago Coutinho and Sacadura Cabral, linking Lisbon to Rio de Janeiro. Two years later, in 1924, Brito Paes, Sarmento Beires and Manuel Gouveia, imbued with the same spirit, will perform the air link Portugal / Macau, whose success was widely reported, taking their authors were received as heroes in various locations around the world.

The preparation began in 1920, and the start for the first leg takes place in Vila Nova de Milfontes, aboard a plane called Homeland, a 07 April 1924.

Part of the estate of Brito Paes was given the Military Museum of the Lower Alentejo, installed in Beja, between a decade of 40 and 50 the last century, the widow and children. It's a bit of this documentation that this exhibition aims to make accessible to the public.
