Beja: Couple from Salvada begins to be tried for drug trafficking.


Couple who trafficked fizzy drinks in Salvada begins to be tried today in the Beja Court. The woman was caught in the motor vehicle by the GNR with drugs.

A woman, of 38 year old, resident Salvada, county Beja, who was detained in 24 May 2023, inside a motor vehicle on suspicion of drug trafficking, During the investigation phase of the process, he “handed over†his ex-partner to the investigators, of 52 year old, and the drug supplier, resident in Setúbal.

The suspect was detained by soldiers from the Criminal Investigation Unit (NIC) Beja GNR, inside the railcar that made the connection between Casa Branca and Beja, when he returned from Setúbal where he had gone to buy cocaine, heroin and hashish. The military entered the train at Cuba station and on the short journey to Beja they approached the suspect who “came loadedâ€.

She was searched and then subjected to a home search, they were seized. 153 doses of cocaine, 84 hashish doses and 81 doses of heroin, a precision balance, five knives and various material and documentation related to drug trafficking. They were also confiscated 100 euros in cash and a mobile phone.

The GNR asked for the PSP's collaboration to approach and identify the companion, who was at the Beja Railway Station and who was supposed to transport the woman to her place of residence, no narcotic product was found.

Present to a Criminal Investigation Judge (JIC) of the Court of Beja, the woman assumed all responsibility for the trafficking, having been ordered to probation, being in the Odemira Prison (EPO).

The couple who has a child together, lived together for three years, but after the woman's arrest, the individual returned to Palmela, his homeland. Upset with the situation, in September 2023, the woman requested additional interrogation and told the military the details of the trafficking to which her partner was also linked, leading the GNR to open a new investigation, ending up detaining the individual.

Present to a JIC of the Beja Court on the day 27 November 2023, preventive detention was also ordered. For the same type of crime, in February 2012, the defendant was sentenced to a sentence of 12 years and 6 months in prison.

But it didn't stop there, and identified the alleged seller of the drug who operated in the Setúbal area, a certificate has been obtained, sent to the DIAP of that city.

In the indictment to which Lidador Notícias had access, the Public Prosecutor's Office of Beja accused the couple of having co-authored material, a crime of drug trafficking, whereas in the case of the individual, has the aggravating factor of being a repeat offender.

The defendant requested that the case be opened, but the judge did not accept the arguments and pronounced it in the exact terms of the accusation.
