As part of the centenary celebrations of the first air travel between Portugal and Macau, Beja Castle Temporary Exhibition Gallery welcomes, to 23 Feb., the exposure “1st Portugal – Macau Air Trip”, curated by the Air Museum.
The Centro Social do Lidador hosted the inaugural conference of the exhibition yesterday, by Colonel Carlos Antônio Mouta Raposo, with title “Portugal to Macau – The Journey”.
A century passed by the great adventure carried out by aviators Brito Paes and Sarmento de Beires, who began their air journey in Vila Nova de Milfontes to achieve what would be considered a remarkable aeronautical feat of international prominence, placing Portugal at the forefront of major intercontinental air travel.
