Of 26 a 31 of July Beja will host more than 600 pilgrims in pre-World Youth Day (WYD), preliminary moment of WYD taking place in Lisbon, of 1 a 6 August.
There will be more than six hundred young people involved in the program planned for these days of cultural and spiritual sharing that will provide pilgrims with moments of conviviality and integration, before the big event in Lisbon.
This initiative had the logistical and financial support of the Municipality of Beja, to guarantee full collaboration with the activities and events organized during the pre-World Youth Day.
The week before WYD is characterized by the “Diocese Days” where young people are received by the communities of the dioceses with the aim of getting to know the people, cultures and territories, Beja being one of the places chosen for the reception of pilgrims.
The official ceremony will take place at the Seminary, day 26, 10h00, followed by the welcoming Eucharist at 6:30 pm, at the Cathedral of Beja.
In the days 27 and 28 Masses are scheduled for 6:30 pm, respectively, in the Church of Carmo and in the Church of Salvador.
on friday night, day 28, from 21:30, a candlelight procession will take place (from the Seminary to the Sé Church).
On Saturday, at 9 am, a Eucharist will take place in the Seminary and later, at 17:00, Recitation of the rosary in the forest of the city.
No Sunday, day 30, at 6:30 pm, the sending Eucharist will take place at Castelo de Beja.
In the evening there will be meetings to share cultures and moments of conviviality in the Garden, House of Culture and Castle of Beja.
Pilgrims leave for Lisbon on Monday, after the Eucharist at 10:00 am in the Seminary.
