At the chamber meeting 23 August 2023, a proposal for the acquisition of 30 vacant properties in the rural parishes of the municipality of Beja.
In a statement, the Coalition “Consigo Beja Cansegue” makes it known that “it agrees and values the principle”, but voted against justifying that “the document on the one hand contains technical errors, and on the other it lacks depth”, justifies councilor Nuno Palma Ferro.
In the document, the elected member of the coalition reveals two points where he supports the reasons that led to the vote against the proposal:
1º The aforementioned proposal provides for the acquisition of real estate between 80 and 120 square meters with a maximum value per square meter of 428,00 euros and a maximum value per property of 30.000,00 euros. Just multiply 80 by 428 to understand that you get 34.240,00 euros, that is, it is impossible to acquire a property under these conditions, complying with the rules defined.
2º The aforementioned document lacks depth in its assessment since it does not provide an estimate for the costs of recovery and/or remodeling. Let's assume that a house can be acquired by the Municipality for 25 thousand euros and another for 15 thousand euros, but the first has recovery costs of 10 thousand euros while the second has costs of 30 thousand euros. Which house should the municipality buy??
This and other questions, just as the tiebreaker criteria are not safeguarded in the public notice that will be published recently, what led us to vote against.
Nuno Palma Ferro leaves a strong accusation against PS and CDU: “the most serious thing is that they voted in favor of a document that contains errors, without worrying about improving it. It is becoming increasingly evident the poor preparation and poor service that these two forces have provided to our municipality, as recognized by a growing majority of Bejenses”, ends the chosen one of the Coalition “Consigo, Beja can do it”.
