Beja: Conference “people, Written Languages and Pre-Roman” no UNESCO Center.
Conference “PEOPLE, LANGUAGES AND WRITTEN PRE-ROMAN”, It is organized by the city of Beja and the Regional Directorate of Culture Alentejo, and has the support of AdpBEJA.

The table of languages and peoples is today one of the most problematic aspects of the pre-Roman world. Although some information of classical texts, our vision of this reality lies marked by some traditional ideas, difficult to overcome. It seeks, first of all, expose some problems facing the current research in this aspect. On the other hand, outweighs the importance of disseminating, in southern Portugal, a local writing, which lies in the Phoenician alphabet, Bringing this territory one of the first literate cultures of the West.
About the lecturer:
Amilcar Guerra, a PhD in Classical History, Associate Professor, University of Lisbon, college of Letters, researcher UNIARQ and History Center of the same institution. His research is developed especially in the context of History and Archeology of Roman Hispania and pre-Roman, giving special attention to the epigraphic documentation.
